MARGIELA FAKE FAKE

The original

The fake

It seems like I am not the only one who wants to fake the Margiela-look this summer. Take a look a look at this one from Topshop. Actually when you look at them so close to each other, the one from Maison Martin Margiela is sooooo much nicer, but I guess it might have something to do with the pricetag.

CUSTOMIZING JEANS & LEGGINGS

A month ago, due to my obsession with the ripped up jeans from Maison Martin Margiela, I made these holes on a leggings of mine. The result turned out good, and it is a good way to transform an item you may be a bit bored with.
Last night I decided to make my version of the MMM-jeans, so I cutted up my old Cheap Monday jeans and I think it went very well.
I can not wait to use the jeans, and I think it will be great when it gets a bit warmer outside and a regular jeans is too warm.
Now I just need to stitch the shoulderpads that I bought on october on a black tee, and I will have a complete fake Maison Martin Margiela outfit. I like!

MASION MARTIN MARGIELA STORE IN NEW YORK

I am slowly posting out my New York pics, and today I wanted to share the Maison Martin Margiela store with you. Some of my old readers may remember the extreme low fi entrance at the Maison Martin Margiela store in Tokyo?

It seems that low fi are one important part of the stores, also in New York. Due to jetlag we first arrived before the store (and everything else was opened), but later on we got to see the store that featured both the Maison- and MM6-collections. Actually there where two stores, one for boys and one for girls. And with the kindest and nicest staff in all of New York. Unfortunately they did not have the ripped up jeans that I wanted, so no MMM-shopping for me.

The store is located on 803 Greenwich Street in West Village.

MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA AW 08/09

I really love the bodysuits, the monocrome look, the different patterns in layers and the diagonally silk capes. Not so sure about the supersized necks, but I guess these are more for the show, allthough it does send a clear message about the proportions. I like!

NECKLACE BAG

I love how Martin Margiela used small bags as necklace on his MM6 collection. Easy to copy this look, I know I already have several mini bags that can be used to get this look.

MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA AW 08/09

I think there are some good ideas here: the glasses, the boots over pants and the jackets with innovative solutions and shapes, but it is all a bit too preppy for my taste. Still, I can not wait to see the womens collection!

X-MAS ALREADY? YES YES YES!

First time I laid my eyes on this jacket was in august on my trip to Øya and Oslo. I was in love, but the price was too high for me.
A couple of weeks ago I tried it on again in Oslo, still in love, still too little money in my bank.
But then: on wednesday there was a packet in my mail, and it was for me! My boyf had got it for me as a x-mas present and he thought it was too long for me to wait till december to open (and wear) it. So now I have it, and I am so happy!
It has loveley details such as the buttons that are in different sizes, the oversized shape, the way you can wear it in different ways and the way it is sowed. Brilliant.
It feels like a jacket that a excentric woman would wear to an art exhibition in New York cirka 1985.
PS! It is from Martin Margiela´s MM6

THE BOOTS

While I am on the subject of extraordinary shoes....These boots from Maison Martin Margiela is just awesome and they look like nothing else. I thought they looked very weird first time around, but now I love them.

OVERPOWERED

Martin Margiela goes for the shoulder pad look and so can you! Buy a pair of shoulder pads and wear under your old tees, sweaters and jackets, and suddenly you will have a updated and Margiela-ish look!

I <3 MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA

Utruleg inspirerande!

There is just something very fresh and unique with Mr. Margiela`s collections, this SS 08-collection is no exception. It is very inspiring!

A WARM JACKET

The autumn is here and it makes me think about getting a warm and nice jacket. Two favourites here, both by Martin Margiela 6. I think I must invest (in one of them).

MARTIN MARGIELA SS 08

The mysterious Mr. Margiela gives us perfect shapes and clothes you could wear on a monday (or a saturday). Also lots of details and optic illusions. I like!

THE ANTWERP SIX

Ann Demeulemeester

Walter Von Beirendonck

Dirk Bikkembergs

Martin Margiela

Dirk Van Saene

Dries Van Noten

In the early 80s a group of designers examined from the artschool in Antwerpen were so innovative and special that they were named The Antwerpen Six. Dirk Bikkembergs, Dries Van noten, Ann Demeulemeester, Walter Von Beirendonck, Dirk Van Saene and Martin Margiela (who were replaced by Marina Yee). Every esigner has their own signatur design and have all contributed to the style labeled as Belgian Fashion. The Antwerp Six heritage is brought on by new Antwerpen students/designers like Bernhard Willhelm, Veronique Branqhuinho, Olivier Theyskens and Raf Simons. Actually Raf Simons did not get to go to the school, the principal thought he was so good that he should create his own way, without the school interfering on his expressions. That is quite amazing!

ALOHA MARTIN!

The name sounds a bit silly, but the site and webshop www.aloharag.com has avantgarde brands for boys and girls like Martin Margiela, Ann Demeleumeester, Ksubi, Henriks Vibskov among others. The silver pouch with the lock on the side is so typical Martin Margiela and so nice! Shoes for boys from Martin Margiela, good alternative to sneakers.

LOW FI

Ein må berre love it!

This is actually the main entrance to the Martin margiela "flagship"-store here in Tokyo. Hidden in third floor in a brick building and in extreme contrast to the other stores that are very very expencive and flashy. You just gotta love it!
