THE SUPERMODELS

The aw 08/09 Carin Wester collection made me think about Chanel and the supermodels in the 90s. Browsing through pictures from google makes me remember when I as a teenager and sat at home, looking through fashion mags and thinking about who I liked the most of them. Back then, it was more about the models (which you never could get enough of) than the clothes and the fashion. My favourite was always Linda (no last names when it comes to supermodels), allthough I liked Helena also.
Funny thing, lots of the pictures are very nude-ish, but as I wrote, it was all about the models.


It is impossible making a post about supermodels without the George Michael videos "Freedom 90" from 1990 (I think) and "Too funky" from 1992.

I think this look is very 90s. The more sophisticated side of the 90s with ruffled blouses, tailored (suit)pants and dressed up shoes (and of course the Dr. Martens-ish boots).

TRAINSPOTTING

I guess everyone has seen this classic movie from 1996. Based on the book "Trainspotting" by Irvine Welsh and directed by Danny Boyle, this is the ultimate 90s movie with great music, great clothes and typical 90s/generation x issues like drugs, clubbing, no one understands me and I hate my parents/they do not understand anything. I also love the choose life poster, which I actually have stored in my basement. Great inspiration!

DYE OR DIE?

Not sure what to think about the SS-08 craze about dyed hairextensions. First seen at Anna Sui, then at Rodarte and Marc by Marc Jacobs.
It is not that many years ago since I had purple extensions myself, but then again I have stopped saying never, cause after a while you suddenly think it is cool and somehow a fresh thing. I have stopped being shocked when trends are looping, and this is certainly another 90s trend coming back, but when Avril Lavigne has red extensions all over her newest video? I dunno.

BOOTS ARE THE NEW PLIMSOLES

Bought these Dr Martens today, they have 10 holes and are black and shiny (and very stiff leather). It will take some pain to make them comfortable, but when they are worn in there are nothing better!

TATTOO!

Denne fotoserien er så sinnsjukt 90s. Tatoveringar, minimalisme, blått og rosa hår, superglossy bilder og unisex look.
Har forresten flasha tatoveringa mi siste halvåret, er liksom litt meir i tida no (slik det var for 10 år sidan då eg fikk den).

This photoserie is so 90s. Tattoos, minimalism, blue and pink hair, superglossy pictures and an unisex look. I have btw been flashing my own tattoo lateley, it feels more legal nowadays to have one (like it was 10 years ago when I got it).

PVC

Of course, Kate kickstarts the PVC-trend. Many designers had PVC-pant/leggings as a key product for the autumn, and I really like the black and shiny look. American Apparel has their lamé-leggings in black, and I think Stella Tennant is very 90s and inspiring for the look in this picture (that of course is from the 90s).

ICE ICE....

Cool tee with print of a not so cool guy. I think we will see lots of prints of faces/people like this one in the future. Irony, remember?

SKYWARD

Eit nytt merke som eg såg i London både på Kokon To Zai og Pineal Eye var svenske Skyward.
Merket kan best beskrivast som konseptuelt, mørkt, seriøst og ganske 90-tals men på ein litt annan måte enn neon og smiley.
Produkta er i jersey stoff og fasongane er frå oversized til gigantsize. I like!

A new brand discovered in London, Skyward from Sweden. They sold the brand both at Kokon To Zai and Pineal Eye and can be described as conseptual, dark, serious and kind of 90s but not the neon/smiley-thing.
The clothes are in jersey fabrics and sizes from oversized to giganticsize. I like!

SMILEY GLASSES

På veg til jobb i dag så kjøpte eg tre par solbriller (30 kr pr stk) som er heilt lik til Bernhard Willhelm sine smiley solbriller.
Har ekstremt dårleg erfaring med å kjøpe billige (og fake) solbriller, men desse er meir som ein novelty, og det som er gøy er at det er godt mogleg at Bernhard Willhelm har herma om du skjønar. Brillene ser egentlig heilt gal ut, men likevel coole på ein eller annan slags måte. Og dei er super 90-tals.

On my way to work today I bought three pair of sunglasses (30 kr each) that is completely similar to Bernhard Willhelm´s smiley sunglasses. I do not like fake or very cheap glasses, but these are more like a novelty piece. The glasses looks crazy, but in a cool way. And they are so 90s.

LOOOOOOOOL!

Har kjøpt nylonbukse for første gang i mitt liv, og det er faktisk første gang eg er eigar av eit Only-plagg (buksa er kjøpt på Fretex vel å merke, mykje Only der faktisk). Grunnen til at eg gjorde dette litt uventa kjøpet var rett og slett at eg såg ein eller annan plass (blad eller nettet, finner det ikkje no) ei jente med tights og ei laus opprulla bukse over. Fresht. So no skal eg teste det.
Likar óg at den har en ganske sterk gulfarge. Ser for meg at tights+nylonbukse+oversized kvit tee kan bli ganske bra.

I bought my first nylonpant today (and it is Only, my first ever Only item, bought secondhand that is). The reason I bought it was because I saw a girl with tights and a loose rolled up pant over it. Fresht. So now I am gonna test that look.
I also like that it is in strong yellow. I think that tights+nylonpant+oversized white tee could be a hot look.

HOT BACKPACK!

Skal du på festival i sommar eller berre har lyst på praktisk og fresht tilbehør (uvanleg kombinasjon!). Ryggsekk i sølv er superfresht. Denne er frå Marc Jacobs, men du vil nok finne andre variantar rundt omkring. Med tanke på 90s bølga er det vel berre eit tidsspørsmål før vi alle droppar veska for ein cool sekk.

This backpack is both practic and cool (unusual combination) and will be great for all the summerfestivals. This one is from Marc Jacobs, but I am sure you will find other backpacks in silver. I guess we soon will drop our bags and go for backpacks, just like in the 90s.

EBAY IN MY MAIL!

I dag fekk eg endeleg denne Nirvana-t-skjorta i posten som eg "vann" på Ebay for nokre veker sidan. Oh I like it!
Finnast mange variantar av denne på Ebay, men pass på at den er vintage, det vil sei at du får den originale t-skjorta. Dei nyopptrykka har nemleg ikkje like fint og dimensjonert trykk eller fasong. Mi er i storleik XL (sjølvsagt!).

Today I finally got my Nirvana-tee in the mail from Ebay. Oh I like it!
There are several varieties of this tee but make sure you get the original and vintage one, it has nicer print and shape. Mine is in size XL (of course!).

BUFFALO STANCE

The Cobra Snake har vore i Tokyo saman med Jeremy Scott. Fikk veldig lyst å reise tilbake , men det blir nok ikkje med det fyrste. Eine partyet på The Cobra Snake er faktisk frå denne skyskraparen. Uansett så var det skoa eg ville vise her. Eg har lenge venta på 90-tals revivalen som har fått ein kickstart med (new)rave-revivalen vi har sett det siste året. Og Buffalo høyrer med. Love it or hate it.
Mine Buffalo-sko står i kjellaren og eg er sikker på dei vil bli tatt fram innan eit par år. Ganske sikker.

The Cobra Snake has toured Tokyo with Jeremy Scott. I really wanted to go back when I saw these pictures, but no can do now. One of the party is actually from this skyscraper. Anyway, it was these Buffalo-shoes I wanted to show you. I have been waiting for the 90s revival for a long time and it seems like the (new)rave-revial has kickstarted it.
And then you need Buffalo. Love it or hate it. Mine is stored in the basement and I am sure I will wear them within a couple of years. Quite sure.

Som forventa har mange kasta seg over new/neu rave-trenden og smileyen er å sjå overalt. Hype eller ei: I love this sweater! Synes den er veldig fresh og eg har egentlig lyst å kjøpe den. Sjølv om rave har vore ein stor hype ganske lenge no, trur eg framleis at looken vil holde seg i undergrunnen (forholdsvis) ei god stund til. Iallefall her i Norge. Kva trur du?

The new/neu rave-trend and the smiley is everywhere, as you could expect. Hype or not: I love this sweater! I think it is very fresh and I think I want to buy it. Even though rave has been such a hype for quite some time now, I think the look will stay underground for a while, at least here in Norway. What do you think?

RAVE ALARM!

Topshop er ikkje uventa på rave-køyret: fluoriserande fargar, oversized hoods, tights. Det är det som är stilen.
Eg er litt usikker på kor lenge rave greia vil halde seg, hypen har begynt å bli mainstream (IIK!) allereide og det går sjølvsagt ikkje. Men så lenge hypen gir oss oversized gråmelerte hoods så er det heilt supert for meg! Så får ein heller bruke neoen effektane med måte. Alle bilda er frå topshop.co.uk.

Topshop goes rave with flurocent colors, oversized hoods and tights. That is the look.
I wonder how long this rave hype will last, espescially since it has become kind of mainstream already (OMG!). As long as the hype gives us oversized grey melange hoods it is ok by me! I guess I just have to be careful with the neon effects.

Ein liten treat for helga: Skal tru kvar Cassetteplaya henta inspirasjon til visningsvideoen av ss07-kolleksjonen?
"Pump up the jam" med Technotronic (bra navn!) var min favorittlåt då eg var 12 år, og eg synes videoen var så high tech. Dansinga, dei syrete data effektane, sykkelbukse, gulljakke og magetaske, alt var så kult! Sjølv om låten kom ut i 89, vil den alltid bli ståande som eit ikon for 90-talet.

A little treat for the weekend: Wonder where Cassetteplaya got her inspiration for the ss07-video?
"Pump up the jam" was one of my favourite track when I was 12 years old, and I tought the video was so high tech. The dancing, the trippy computer effects, golden jacket, bike pants and fannypack, it was so cool! Even though the song was put out in 89, it will always stand as an icon for the 90´s.

BLOW THE WISTLE!

Ein tur på H&M bekrefta at dei sjølvsagt har fått med seg at 90-talet er tilbake: mønster all over, sterke fargar, magetasker og så vidare. Likevel likte eg best denne fløyta til 49,50 kroner på guteavdelinga, klassisk rave tilbehør, og med litt blingpynt på.
Einaste drawback er at du ikkje kan blåse med den! WTF! For fløyter du faktisk kan lage liv med på byen, sjekk innom sports- eller leikebutikkar, fest fløyta på kjede rundt halsen. Bildet er Juergen Teller-style!

A trip to H&M proved that the 90´s are back for real. All over pattern, neon colors, fannypacks and so on. I liked this whistle that I got for 49,50 kroner at the Mens Department, classic rave gear! Only downside is that the wistle can not make sound. WTF! Photo is Juergen Teller-style!
